The SeaRey can be equipped with the Rotax 582, 912, 912S, and 914 Turbo engines.

Although there are requests for Subaru, VW Conversion, Lycoming and other engines, these are too heavy for the SeaRey.

 

 

  Rotax 582

       

The Rotax 582 is recommended for lightweight, lightly equipped SeaReys and for `Advanced UltralighY' category in Canada
Two-cycle, two-cylinder, rotary valve engine, oil-in-fuel lubrication or by optional oil injection, liquid cooled with integrated water pump, dual ignition, oil pump, dual carburetors, exhaust system, electric starter.


65 hp at 6500 rpm; 76 mm bore; 64 mm stroke; 580.7 cm3 displacement


Fuel: 89 - 93 octane, unleaded gasoline

 

Fuel/Oil Mixing Ratio: 50:1 (unless oil injection is installed)


Fuel consumption: 4.5 gallons (U.S.) per hour


TBO Upper end only: 300 hours

 

TBO Major overhaul: 700 hours

 

 

 

  Rotax 912 (UL2 Engine)

       

The powerful, fuel efficient, long-life 912 (UL2) engine is a popular choice for SeaRey owners.

 

Four-cylinder, four-stroke liquid/air cooled engine with opposed cylinders, dry sump forced lubrication with separate 3 liter oil tank, automatic adjustment by hydraulic valve tappet, 2 CD carburetors, mechanical diaphragm pump, electronic dual ignition, electric starter, integrated reduction gear, i=2.273


80 hp at 5800 rpm; 79.5 mm bore; 61 mm stroke; 1211.2 cm3 displacement; 9.0:1 compression ratio


Fuel: 89 - 93 octane, unleaded gasoline (best); or Avgas 100 LL


Fuel consumption: 3.5 gallons (U.S.) per hour


TBO: 1500 hours.
